Microscan traces every tissue move

For Regeneration Technologies Inc (RTI) of the US, product tracking is critical. One of the leading providers of tissue-based innovations for the repair and natural healing of bone and other tissues, the firm processes donated human tissue to create allografts and prepares them for implantation into human recipients. Tissue traceability from donor to recipient is therefore crucial, however patient privacy must be protected.

During processing, a document pouch accompanies the tissue through each step as a unique identifier. Upon completion of each stage in the process, a bar code is taken from the pouch and attached to the document assigned to that stage and scanned, logging its completion. To produce the bar codes, RTI uses a print-on-demand system and Microscan's MS-850 fixed mount scanner to validate the data to ensure 100% accuracy.
