Particle Measuring Systems speeds up cleanness testing

Surfex is a new product from Particle Measuring Systems, comprising an integrated testing station designed to measure particle levels on virtually any type of complex shaped part. Typical applications include measuring the parts used in building disk drives, wafer containers in the semiconductor industry, fuel injector parts, and medical devices. With a throughput up to ten times that of traditional manual methods, the system significantly reduces the cost of parts testing and its automated software control helps eliminate data variability caused by human error. Surfex combines ultrasonic extraction, particle measurement, high purity fluidics and automated software control to reduce testing time: the time required to establish an acceptable background particle level has also been cut from hours to minutes. The higher throughput means that up to ten times more tests can be performed than any other method, thereby increasing the confidence that parts which are out of specification can be identified quickly before they adversely affect the quality of the final product. The use of easy configuration "recipes" to define the parts tests guarantee that the tests will be run consistently and eliminates human error from adversely affecting results and pass/fail decisions.
