PANalytical's CubiX FAST X-ray diffraction (XRD) system has been chosen by an independent jury as one of the world's 100 most innovative products for 2002. From the large number of new products introduced to the market each year, a panel from Cahners' Research and Development magazine selects those 100 products they believe have had the broadest impact on society or on industry as a whole. Former award winners include the halogen lamp, the liquid crystal display and high definition TV. CubiX FAST was chosen due to its contribution to XRD and to modern industrial process control. CubiX FAST speeds up on-line materials analyses, which required laborious sample handling, measurement and evaluation in the past. Increased speed and ease of use are the key requirements for analytical tools, particularly in the industrial environment. The system also features the X'Celerator ultra-fast X-ray detector, which was one of last year's R&D 100 award winners.
