Microsoft uses Microscan as case study

Microscan software screenshotMicroscan has been used as a case study by Microsoft on software asset management (SAM) and compliance. Manufacture of the complex scanners and decoders at Microscan means managing the large number of software programs that engineers use on a daily basis. With more than 100 programs, of which 50 are in use all the time, making sure they all work together seamlessly is a challenging task for Mark Milburn, Microscan's Vice President of Finance and IT. With a SAM plan in place, the company can more easily track and manage its software and solve compatibility issues and employees have access to the information and software they need. SAM also enables Microscan to take an inventory of all software on the network at any time, ensuring the company is using only licensed and authorised software. Microsoft's case study includes a video made at Microscan and can be seen at http://www.samstarterkit.com/mu/Home.asp.
