Fusion's customers are floored by UV
Hardwood flooring manufacturers offer many different wood types, stains
and finishes. But achieving a professional-looking installation also requires
matching wall bases and mouldings to create a quality, finished look.
Fusion customer, Artistic Finishes, uses Fusion’s UV lamps to cure
three-dimensional mouldings. The reduced heat of the microwave-powered
lamp is important for the wood substrate and the coatings provide excellent
properties, in particular superior abrasion resistance, a key factor in
domestic flooring. In addition to the reduction in energy consumption
from instantaneous curing, UV lamps also eliminate the harmful emissions
and waste products caused by the evaporation of solvents produced by alternative
technologies. Artistic Finishes prides itself on being environmentally
conscious and the company was able to reduce both VOC emissions and hazardous
waste by using UV curable coatings. An additional benefit is the speed
of production which can be achieved using UV technology – throughput
more than doubled using Fusion’s high-powered lamps.
