Ircon launches next generation of imaging solutions

Ircon's Mold Inspector software is the first true thermal imaging software for real-time control and testing in industrial applications. Capturing data at speeds of up to 60 frames per second, it can take on the most complex inspection processes. Designed to work with Ircon's Stinger thermal imaging camera, Mold Inspector can be used for metal, glass, ceramics and plastics moulding processes. The Windows-based software enables 50 areas of interest to be set up and a summary window enables actual pass/fail events to be viewed as they happen. Captured images can be played back and reviewed and data can be easily exported to other systems or stored in files for use with a spreadsheet. A key benefit of the software is that it can be used as a feedback device to control cooling down of the mould, improving the yield and quality of the finished product. A further advantage is that entire production batches can be saved for later analysis, so that if a mould failure occurs the images can be replayed at different speeds in order to detect the actual point when the failure occurred. This data can then be used for statistical process control to achieve the maximum throughput. In addition, the pre-heating operation necessary with some moulds can heat the mould over many sections. Mold Inspector's ability to create up to 50 areas of interest enables the preheater zones to be inspected independently, increasing process efficiency and improving product quality.
