Malvern signs multi-year contract with Brazil's largest cement producer

Product Innovation Award Malvern Instruments has secured a multi-year contract with Brazilian cement producer, Votorantim Cimentos, to supply its Insitec on-line particle size analyzers for at least 30 of their cement production lines throughout north and south America. Votorantim is the largest cement producer in Brazil and a significant player in the cement industry throughout the Americas. Its decision to adopt Malvern's system as a company-wide standard followed a trial to understand the impact that real-time control of the fineness of the cement could make. By replacing conventional off-line analytical techniques with on-line particle size analysis, and using the resulting information to develop appropriate control strategies, Votorantim made significant gains in process efficiency and product quality. In addition to the economic gains, the rapid set up of the Insitec system, together with exceptionally high instrument availability times also helped to demonstrate the potential of the system to deliver real competitive advantage. "We are sure these systems will help us to improve performance and quality of our products" said Julio Cesar M Rocha of Votorantim Cimentos.
