Spectris expands its
operations in Asia Pacific
Spectris
continues to strengthen its presence in Asia Pacific to benefit from the
increasing opportunities for precision instrumentation and controls in
this strategic region, with a direct presence in Japan, Korea, Taiwan,
China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Australia. The business units operate
either directly as separate companies or one of the companies may act
as a “host” in some countries where the lack of size may be a disadvantage,
for example in Japan and Korea where BTG and Beta LaserMike host other
Spectris companies. In China, due to the special requirements for operating
in this country, the hosting is provided by Spectris directly. Many of
the subsidiary companies have established a presence here to serve the
increasing demand from customers in the fast-growing China market.
2001 saw a number
of sales operations created in Asia Pacific, with BTG establishing a presence
in Korea, Fusion and Servomex in China and Singapore, Particle Measuring
Systems and Microscan in China and Japan, Luxtron in Korea and Japan and
Malvern Instruments in Japan. In addition to the sales operations, HBM
has a wholly-owned manufacturing facility in Suzhou, near Shanghai, for
the production of strain gauges for the weighing industry. With many years
of experience in this complex region, Spectris is in a good position to
respond to the opportunities arising in Asia Pacific.
